High-Intensity Gas-Powered Acoustic Well Stimulation Tool. The NitroBlast™ tool creates high-power (up to 75 kW) sound at 2-20 kHz. Large diameter acoustic reflectors focus the sound on the formation. The tool is gas-driven to keep the well underbalanced during treatment.
The JetRotor™ is acid capable and is commonly used as part of an acidizing stimulation. In this application a stimulation head is run to blast the wellbore while squeezing acid into the well. The tool accommodates high flow rates and pressures for acid squeeze stimulations. The acid jets remove drilling damage and near surface damage from carbonate wellbores to ensure uniform stimulation. The high pressure jets remove clay and other contaminants that can restrict acid tunneling into the formation. These tools are run routinely to acidize carbonate wells in the Sultanate of Oman.
In this remedial job the customer needed to remove cement from 12525 to 13590 feet of 3-1/2” casing. A motor and 2-7/8-inch mill were used to drill out the cement leaving a sheath of cement. A 2-1/8” JetRotor™ was run with XL jets to remove the remaining cement. The tool was run over the 1000 foot interval three times with heavy returns of cement particles at surface. 300 feet of cement debris remained in the bottom of the well after the last pass indicating complete cleanup. The entire job was completed in 11 hours.

A 1-11/16-inch MGS and PDM motor were run with a 2-1/8-inch bladed junk mill. Fluid was pumped at 1 bpm with 600 scfm of nitrogen plus periodic sweeps of fluid and foam. The total job time was 9 hours. This typical job illustrates the ability to run a PDM motor at its design flow rate while adding nitrogen at a rate sufficient to maintain circulation.
