Case History: HydroPull™

Extreme-Reach Tandem HydroPull™ Run on Jointed Pipe in the Bakken Shale

This job in the Bakken-Three Forks of North Dakota involved drilling composite bridge plugs in 4 1/2-in. (114 mm) casing from 9,855 ft. to 20,499 ft. (3,004 to 6,248 m) MD using a workover rig and jointed pipe with rotation.

The wellbore’s horizontal section was extremely tortuous, and it was not possible to reach TD after 9 days of operation with a single HydroPull tool.

A second HydroPull™ tool was installed 3,000 ft. (914 m) above the first HydroPull™ tool and TD was subsequently reached in 3 days. The low pressure differential through the HydroPull™ tool ensured the success of this extreme-reach plug millout.
